Clinical information
The available evidence suggests that orchidopexy should certainly be performed before the age of school entry, and probably before the age of 2 years, to preserve testicular function
The differential diagnosis includes retractile testis. If in doubt about the nature of a retractile testis, please seek advice from the Paediatric Urologists
Undescended testis in an adult is usually an indication for removal of the testis, especially if it is intra-abdominal. Ultrasound of the groin is a reliable means of detecting an ectopic or maldescended testis in an adult
