Clinical information
Vasectomy reversal requires a general anaesthetic and can only be performed on a private basis. NHS referrals will not normally be accepted.
It is occasionally performed on the NHS if the patient is suffering severe symptoms due to epididmyal distension following vasectomy (i.e. it needs to be performed for purely medical reasons). However, epididymectomy is more effective in relieving post-vasectomy epididymal pain and this can be performed on the NHS.
